Duke Basketball Media Day: What We Learned

Duke Basketball held its' 2025-26 annual media day session with coaches and staff on the upcoming season, takeaways from the offseason, goals for the regular season, and players offseason activities.


Leading the way featured coach Jon Scheyer discussing pivotal topics such as the vigorous non conference schedule featuring contests against Florida, Michigan State, Michigan Arkansas, Texas Tech, Texas, and a surprise exhibition contest at Tennessee; Jon gave a honest assertion on the schedule.



Coach Jon Scheyer also gave updated news on big man Maliq Brown who endured a knee procedure to clear tissue and is expected to be out for several weeks. The procedure, as describe by Jon Scheyer is more precautionary than not.



From the backcourt, as expected Junior guard Caleb Foster will handle lead guard responsibilities with freshman Cayden Boozer facilitating at the combo guard position. Cayden addressed the game being much faster and physical at the college level.



After an up and down Junior campaign, Caleb was an energy boost for the final four team, that lost all five starters to the NBA draft, three going within the top eleven picks.



Sharpshooter Isaiah Evans spoke on transitioning his game, bulking up, and getting viable feedback from NBA scouts. Evans has been deemed by many at the next level, a small forward with comparisons to former Duke great Brandon Ingram. Isaiah will be the focal point of opposing coaches scouting reports where he can shoot from all three phases, distribute to open shooters, and finish above the rim with his 7 ft. wing span. Isaiah also gave his stance on the reported NIL, transfer portal news where he admitted giving serious thought to leaving Duke, but only for the NBA.



The Blue Devils will make their first grand appearance next Friday at Cameron Indoor for Countdown to Craziness.
