Cameron Boozer Selected 3rd by Grizzlies

National Play of the Year, Freshman sensation and Duke stud Cameron Boozer was selected 3rd overall in the 2026 NBA draft Tuesday night, becoming the 34th overall lottery pick chosen from Duke University.

Boozer will wear No. 27 for the Memphis Grizzlies, as the number was last worn by David Roddy in 2023.

With the selection, the Grizzlies add interior presence, perimeter shooting where Cameron shot 40% from deep in his lone season at Duke and physicality.

Cameron has drawn comparions to former NBA champ Kevin Love with his floor stretching and play making ability. Some have questioned his athletic ability and will to finish over taller defenders, but with his shot creating ability and being surrounded by superior talent at the next level, he should flourish in the NBA system.

Former NBA champ Kendrick Perkins stated on ESPN's Pat McAfee show "in any other draft he would have went 1".

The freshman will be asked to be the cornerstone product of a franchise that has desperately faced character and organizational issues on and off the court.
