Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje Named FIBAU17 MVP as USA Captures Gold

Team USA junior national team captured the gold medal against Serbia Sunday morning in convincing fashion winning 107-81, leaving no doubt that the country will be in good hands in the immediate future. In victory, the win helped Team USA complete it's 8th consecutive gold medal.

CJ Rosser led Team USA with 23 points. Duke prospect Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje contributed 20 points, and 15 boards also walking away with the tournaments MVP honors.

More impressively, over the course of the tournament Joaquim, averaged 19.7 PPG, 10.9 RPG, and nearly 3 assists (2.8 APG). Versatility speaks volumes in his game with his willingness to get others involved, attack off the dribble, finishing above the rim, and consistent shooting from downtown, hitting over 50% during the FIBA games (53.7%).

The International prospect is already drawing comparisons to NBA champion Karl Anthony Towns with his complete floor vision, and Andre Drummond with his will to create second chance points, and extend possessions in the halfcourt set.

Some have held Boumtje Boumtje as a potential candidate as the overall number 1 pick when he declares for the NBA draft.

Next up for the prospect...... on campus at Duke University for the Blue Devils.
